South America Part II: 2 Countries – Bolivia, Peru (16-Day Tour)

The tour leader will meet the group at Toronto International Airport, and fly to Lima, the capital of Peru.

Upon arrival, proceed to the historic center of Lima to visit Plaza San Martín, the Main Square, the Cathedral, and the Presidential Palace. After dinner, check in at the Sheraton Hotel or a similar class hotel.

After breakfast, take a boat tour to the Ballestas Islands (also known as Bird Island, home to thousands of seabirds) to admire the spectacular cliffs, unique rock formations, and diverse wildlife such as seabirds, sea lions, and penguins. Continue by coach to Nazca and check in at the local hotel, Hotel Nazca or a similar class hotel.

Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the mysterious geoglyphs, covering an area of 50 kilometers, featuring massive geometric shapes and animal figures. When were they created? How were they made? The mystery remains unsolved to this day. Afterwards, continue to the Ica Desert, where a small lagoon lies at the heart of a desert oasis surrounded by sand dunes. After dinner, check in at the Hilton DoubleTree Hotel or a similar class hotel.

After breakfast, visit the Paracas Harbor Pier. After lunch, travel by coach to Lima. Following dinner, check in at the Sheraton Hotel or a similar class hotel.

After breakfast, take a flight to Juliaca. Upon arrival, transfer by private coach to Puno, a lakeside town on Lake Titicaca. Known as the “Little Switzerland of South America,” Puno is considered the folklore capital of Peru, famous for its indigenous handicrafts. Check in at the Casa Andina Hotel or a similar class hotel (2 consecutive nights at the same hotel).

After breakfast, take a boat tour of Lake Titicaca, the world’s highest navigable alpine lake. Visit the Uros Islands, floating islands made of reeds by the indigenous people. Meet the locals who preserve their traditional customs, admire their beautiful handicrafts, and enjoy a warm welcome of songs and dances from the island residents. Continue by boat (about 2 hours) to Taquile Island in the middle of the lake, where you can enjoy distant views of Bolivia’s snow-capped mountains and the legendary Sun Island, birthplace of the Inca civilization. After a traditional homemade lunch, return to the main pier to board the boat back to Puno. Stay overnight at Casa Andina Hotel or a similar class hotel.

After breakfast, travel by coach to the border. After crossing customs into Bolivia, continue to the scenic resort town of Copacabana for lunch. Afterwards, visit the cathedral built in 1605, home to the revered Black Madonna, Virgen de Candelaria, which is said to have appeared miraculously many times, making this a sacred pilgrimage site. At the main square, you may take photos or shop for local handicrafts. The day concludes with a specially arranged spot to capture the beautiful sunset. After dinner, check in at a lakeside hotel with lake-view rooms.

After breakfast, take a boat tour to the legendary Sun Island, a sacred pilgrimage site since the Inca era. After lunch, travel by coach to La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. Upon arrival, check in at the Stannum Boutique Hotel or a similar class hotel.

After breakfast, take a flight to the world-famous Uyuni Salt Flats, known as the “Mirror of the Sky.” Upon arrival, specially arranged 4WD jeeps will take you directly onto the salt flats, where the ground reflects the heavens like a giant mirror, creating the breathtaking scenery that has made this place world-renowned. In this vast white expanse, experience the pure beauty and serenity of a true paradise. After dinner, check in at a Salt Hotel.

Ride the world’s longest and highest cable car system up to the observation deck for a panoramic view of La Paz. Afterwards, explore the Witch’s Market, where you can find items used in traditional rituals — a fascinating experience. After breakfast, take a flight to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel for check-in, followed by free time for shopping and sightseeing. In the afternoon, visit Lima’s coastal attractions, including the famous Love Park. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner with wine at one of the city’s renowned fine dining restaurants. Transfer by private coach to the airport for your return flight to Toronto on a deluxe aircraft.
